2012 Burke & Wills Vat 2 Their quote: "Burke & Wills Winery Vat 2 2012 Shiraz. One of the best Shirazes in Heathcote, and that's saying a lot (Heathcote arguably produces the best shiraz in Australia). Vanilla, subdued raspberry, just the right amount of light pepper. Ample weight but super smooth. A paragon Heathcote Shiraz. Vat 1 took home the big trophy, but it was Vat 2 we couldn't get enough of. $28"

A New Vineyard 2016

Ten to eleven years on from the original planting we finally put in another two thirds of an acre here at the winery to bring the vineyard up to four acres. We plant by the moon, having had great success with that in the past, so as we were at Maldon Folk Fesitval for the Oct full moon we had to plant in late Nov and finally on Dec 26th and 27 2016!
We planted more Gewurztraminer because it is so good here, and Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet franc so we can be self sufficient with the grapes for our Bordeaux style blend, The Aristocrat which also contains our Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec.

And a little of the earlier years....

2012 - Burke & Wills Winery was rated as one of that years "10 Dark Horses" in James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion, and noted Andrew as a "veteran warrior of boutique winemaking". 94 points - Gewurztraminer, 94 points - Camp 5 Shiraz.

Daylesford Wine Show 2006 - Burke & Wills Winery's 2005 Pattison Family Reserve Pinot won the Mercato Trophy for best Pinot Noir.

Macedon Ranges Wine Exhibition 2003 - Andrew Pattison's 2001 Pattison Reserve French Oak Shiraz carried off both the Best Red Wine Trophy and Best Wine Of Show (The Lawrie Williams Trophy) with James Halliday chairing the judging panel. Andrew also picked up seven other silver and bronze medals, including the third silver for Pattison 2001 Cabernet Merlot and the second silver for Lancefield White Heather unoaked Chardonnay.
